What the project is all about
This idea started a few years ago, as I met a serviceman in my local neighborhood, and I gave him a copy of the card game Battle for Hill 218, and I thought it would be a nice game for him to have when he was travelling or stuck in a tent somewhere. I never really could get an idea of how to get games to the troops, and even tried to work with local National Guard for game days but I never could get the idea together... I finally met a girl at work who could help me whose husband likes board games and was shipping to Afghanistan this week.

Here is the letter I got from here..
--------------------
Right now the 178th is shipping out sometime between
August 15th and 20th. I don't have an exact date but I will have an
address before they ship out so we can start mailing things. It costs
around $10 or $12 to mail one of the flat rate boxes at any weight up to
like 75 pounds and takes roughly 7 days to get there. They used to have
APO specific flat rate boxes but now you just use the regular ones and
the Post Office should automatically give you a $2 discount on each
package that goes to an APO so just make sure they give you that
discount if you ship anything.
There is a table in the rec room that the National Guard guys share with
the other branches on the same base where they can place any extra items
that are up for grabs or sharing with the Marines, Air Force, or whoever
happens to be stationed with them. I will send an email to the head of
the local FRG (Family Readiness Group) tonight to see if I can get
addresses for additional FOBs as well. I will keep you posted with
anything that I find out. I know they will appreciate your efforts!!
